Combine your trip to the Oberammergau Passion Play 2020 with a 2-night trip to Munich, Bavaria’s beautiful capital.

Fly to Germany and spend 2 days discovering Bavaria’s capital city. Enjoy a guided tour of this lively, historic town, taking in some of Munich’s world-famous sights. You’ll also have some time at leisure, to explore, relax or get in a little shopping!

Transfer by motor-coach to the Oberammergau area, driving along the Bavarian Fairytale Route. En route, admire the two iconic fairytale castles of King Ludwig II, Neuschwanstein and Hohenschönhausen,  before settling in to your hotel in Oberammergau.

On the day of the Passion Play performance, enjoy some free time to explore the village of Oberammergau at your leisure, taking in the beautiful murals and traditional Bavarian architecture. After lunch, take your seat for the first half of the spectacular, moving performance, 10 years in the making and with a history dating back centuries. Break for dinner before returning for the second half of the Play which continues late into the evening.

The following morning after breakfast and check-out, transfer back to Munich Airport, central Munich, or continue your European adventure.

Suggested Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive in Germany

Fly to Munich where on arrival in Munich Airport, transfer to your central 4* hotel, your base for the next 2 nights.

Day 2

Munich sightseeing

This morning meet your guide and coach at your hotel for a sightseeing tour of this wonderful city. The capital of Bavaria is one of Germany’s most popular tourist destinations. The walkable city centre retains small town flair yet holds some world-class sites.  During your tour, visit the renowned Frauenkirche Cathedral, the Marienplatz with the famous ‘Glockenspiel’, the Olympic park and many more. The afternoon will be at leisure; why not stroll around the English Garden, stopping for some traditional German refreshment in the beer garden? Perhaps visit Nymphenbourg Palace, where King Ludwig II was born, and the Marstallmuseum, containing many of his elaborate carriages. Enjoy your evening at leisure in Munich.

Day 3

Travel to Oberammergau

After enjoying breakfast and checking out of your Munich hotel, board your coach for your transfer to Oberammergau for two nights’ half-board accommodation. Enjoy stunning views of the Bavarian landscape along the Bavarian Fairytale Route, and the beautiful castles of King Ludwig II: Hohenschwangau, where he grew up, and Neuschwanstein, his best-known legacy. After arriving at your hotel there will be time to freshen up before your evening meal.

Day 4

Oberammergau Passion Play

In the morning, explore the charming village of Oberammergau at your leisure. The town’s traditional Bavarian character can be seen in the beautiful wood carvings and the picturesque houses, decorated with intricate frescos. After your included lunch, take your seat for the first part of the 2020 Oberammergau Passion Play, with the second part commencing after dinner.

Day 5

Auf Wiedersehen!

After breakfast and check-out you will be transferred to Munich Airport or central Munich.

  • 01 February 2019 – £300.00 per person 4th non-refundable stage deposit
