Oberammergau Passion Play 2020 – Black Forest
Tours for Groups
As we’ve just celebrated Easter, the sacrifice of Jesus Christ is fresh in our minds. See the famed events unfold as you relive the Easter story at the 2020 Oberammergau Passion Play.
In 1633, when The Plague was ravaging Europe, the villagers of Oberammergau turned to God, asking that no more of their inhabitants should succumb to this terrible illness. Their prayers were heard and answered. The following year, the villagers performed a Passion Play out of gratitude for their survival. This powerful act of worship and devotion has been performed every tenth year since.
Through the Passion Play, over 2000 participants express their religious conviction and bring the story of Jesus of Nazareth to life. From his entry to Jerusalem to the Last Supper, the crucifixion and his glorious Resurrection, be drawn into these events of this most significant life. Watch the events we remember each Easter unfold before you.
For more than 2000 years, this man’s life has brought hope to people across the globe. In 2020, the 42nd Passion Play season will offer a solemn reenactment. This inspirational performance is powerful, touching and leads to deep reflection.
