Combine your trip to Oberammergau and its famous passion play with five fabulous days exploring Lake Garda. The largest of the Italian lakes, Lake Garda is situated at the foot of the Dolomite Alps, in a beautiful area of Southern Europe.  Enjoy an excursion to Verona.  This postcard perfect Italian city is the home of Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet.

Suggested Itinierary

Day 1

Arrive in Germany

Perhaps spend a night or so in Munich to explore the culturally rich Bavarian capital.

Day 2

Oberammergau Passion Play

Head to the village of Oberammergau.  Spend the morning at leisure and enjoy lunch before the Passion Play performance. The play is set in two acts with a break for dinner. Overnight in Oberammergau.*

Day 3

Travel to Lake Garda

Head towards Italy to your chosen resort at Lake Garda for the next four nights. Familiarise yourself with the area and the hotels facilities.

Day 4

Lake Garda Panorama

Enjoy a scenic drive around Lake Garda passing through typical Italian villages. On the way back relax and admire the view during a boat cruise from Malcesine to Limone and back to Riva del Garda/Torbole.

Day 5

Day at Leisure

Use this day to relax and enjoy your hotel and surroundings. Why not potter around the narrow lanes of the towns or eat gelato with a view of the lake.

Day 6

Romeo and Juliet’s Verona

Visit one of Italy’s most beautiful cities, and the setting for one of Shakespeare’s most famous and romantic works. Enjoy a half day guided tour and see the famous sights.

Day 7

Depart

Commence your journey home, or why not extend your visit?  Visit the stunning city of Milan – the home of fashion and football, or explore the gardens of the Italian Riviera.

Riva del Garda: Hotel Europe ****

The Hotel Europe is situated on a lakefront promenade, 1-minute walk from La Rocca di Riva fortress and 3.5 km from the Parco Grotta Cascata Varone, a partially subterranean waterfall. The airy, colourful rooms come with free Wi-Fi, TVs and minibars. Upgraded rooms also feature sitting areas, and some have lake views. Other amenities include a rooftop pool, a sundeck and a hammam. There’s also an open-air restaurant with regional cuisine and a bar.

Torbole: Clubhotel Lavela ****

The Clubhotel Lavela is a 5-minute walk from the shores of Lake Garda, 7.6 km from Parco Grotta Cascata Varone (waterfall park) and 8 km from Castello di Arco (ruined hilltop castle reached by hiking paths). The rooms have wooden floors and include TVs, free Wi-Fi and minibars. Most have balconies, while 1- to 2-bedroom apartments add kitchens and dining areas. 
Other amenities include a restaurant, 2 bars and a seasonal outdoor pool.

Bardolino: Poiano Resort ****

The Poiano Resort is set on 60 hectares of grounds overlooking Lake Garda. The rooms come with a TV and minibar, as well as balconies or terraces. There are 3 restaurants and 3 bars. Other amenities include a spa, an Olympic-size outdoor pool, 6 tennis courts and a fitness room, plus a playground, games room and conference centre.
